eniElectro

I left aside development for eniAsm but I start working again on it soon since I have a contest and eniAsm is my entering program. So, eniAsm lovers :) keep a little patience ... for it will be worth it ;)

Returning to our main topic, eniElectro is officially opened.

What is eniElectro?

eniElectro is a special news category on my site in which I will post news related to my other current hobby : electronics. It will be a place of development and I’ll try to keep it as original as possible. I like to call this place my electro corner since this will be the “line” that thighs my work to the rest of the world [the interested part, at least].

What subjects in the field of electronics will be covered in this news category?

Basically I will try to cover anything about electronics, the electronics I am interested in. I am interested in analogue electronics and digital electronics but will be covering mostly digital electronics in the area of integrated circuits, microcontrollers, basically non-passive components will be mostly covered but I am not drawing a line between the branches. Electronics…this is what I’ll cover here, or at least try to cover.

What is my favorite electronics work area?
As I said before, I am into digital electronics, especially microcontrollers [I am talking about those little brains made by Microchip].

A little bit of history…

I was fascinated with microcontrollers for a long time but never had the opportunity to actual work with one until relatively recently…

At the beginning of this year I participated on an EU program called “Leonardo Learning green using IT” and had the opportunity to stay in Leipzig, Germany for 3 weeks. I don’t know how many of you know this but Germany is very good in many fields and electronics is one of those fields.

In Leipzig there was an electronic store department [a 3 store building full of electronics/electronics-related stuff] named Conrad. It is from Conrad that I managed to find and buy the “K8048 PIC PROGRAMMER & EXPERIMENT BOARD” produced by Valleman.

After returning home to my country I built the kit and, as it came with a free PIC microchip for testing [PIC16F627] and also some sample programs, I started to go deep into these little brains. I was astonished what they were capable of and soon enough started to ask questions and gather answers.

A few tests later and during the running of one program I didn’t notice that the supply line slipped beneath the board [I had a universal supply jack] and poof, the PIC was dead…

My first PIC

[Up is a picture of my first PIC after I have burned it >:)]

I was a little depressed but, after putting myself together, went the next day to buy another one.

This time I didn’t buy the same PIC [16F627], instead I bought a newer version of it, the 16F628.

I am having that PIC since then and it is ok for me.

Basically, I will focus my attention, in future news, on this PIC and its capabilities/my usage of it.

Let me start by saying that It is a nice PIC to work with, very suited for beginners.

Well, that’s enough for now, hopefully in the next news you’ll learn something practical, but I had to have an opening to this category, and this is it.

Feel free to express any opinions/suggestions to what I am trying to do, be sure I will listen to you ;)
